Su-en Wong: Eroticism and innocence, humor and pathos, the individual and everywoman, fantasy and reality

Su-en Wong was born in Singapore but now lives in Willamsburg, Brooklyn.

From Danese:
“The works continue Wong’s investigation of the “self” within complex worlds that embrace contradiction as a condition of existence – eroticism and innocence, humor and pathos, the individual and everywoman, fantasy and reality.”

Wow.

SHARP GF-777

This is what I crave—I’m gonna watch for it on Ebay. I use to have a double deck Aiwa back in the day, but this is the one I really wanted.

The world according to Paula Scher

Paula Scher’s NYC Transit and Manhattan at night, will be released as hand-pulled screenprints in a limited edition of 90. Measuring 60” x 33.5” and printed on hand-made deluxe Lana Quarelle paper. Available at Maya Stendhal Gallery. I like this quote the best, “They’re all wrong,” Scher says. “I mean, nothing’s in the right spot. I put in what I feel like. It’s my comment on information in general. We receive a lot of information all the time and mostly it’s lies or slight mistruths.”

Paula Scher is a partner at Pentagram and the designer behind graphic icons ranging fromt he band Boston’s first album cover to the Citibank logo.

This is what I love about Google—I just did this “boston album scher” and this was the first result:

That’s pretty bad ass.

Naked Ambition

Naked Ambition: An R-rated Look at an X-rated Industry—a book intended as a social documentary exploration into the American porn industry.

The best quote, when asked about designing a book about porn, DJ Stout responded: “I’ve designed books on Mexican prostitutes, the Klu Klux Klan, women in prison, skin heads, violent gangs and now the world of pornography. I’ve also designed books and magazine features on pigs, dairy cows, computers, guitar players, lawyers, realtors and the entire history of Saudi Arabia…I preferred the porn.”

This is what I love about Amazon. On the “Naked Ambition” page, in the “Customers Who Bought This Item Also Bought” module was this great title and photo, “Naked Girls Smoking Weed: Best of 420 Girls.”

Who can pass up Naked girls smoking weed? Here’s the official description, “Culled from the archives of the popular weed-chicks website 420 Girls, photographer Rob Griffin has put combined man’s two greatest loves in a fantastic book that reminds us all what life is about! As if the nudity weren’t enough, this book’s also packed with all kinds of educational tidbits about pot! Now pass that fuckin’ bong!”
